CHRISTMAS EVE WITH MALACHI CUSH ON BBC RADIO ULSTER AND BBC SOUNDS

This Christmas Eve, let the joy of the festive season fill your home as renowned folk and spiritual artist Malachi Cush brings ‘Christmas at the Cathedral’ to BBC Radio Ulster and BBC Sounds, at 6.00pm.

Set in the awe-inspiring splendour of Armagh’s St Patrick’s Cathedral, this one-hour special will wrap you in the warmth of the Christmas spirit with Malachi delivering a heartfelt performance of his favourite carols and ethereal hymns.

Joined by the angelic voices of the choir of St Catherine’s College, Armagh, Malachi performs a moving rendition of his enchanting Christmas song ‘Sleep, Oh Infant Child’ which was first released to great acclaim last year.

Adding to the magic are breathtaking solo performances by baritone Karl McGuckin, Eilis Fox and Beth Tiffney, who come together to join Malachi for a powerful and soul-stirring finale of the beloved classic, ‘O Holy Night’.

Reflecting on the programme and what listeners of Christmas at the Cathedral can expect, Malachi said: “I believe this Christmas Eve programme will be the perfect way for BBC Radio Ulster to help listeners step into the true spirit of the eve of Christ’s birth. Christmas at the Cathedral offers a gentle reminder of the reason for the season and I was intentional in selecting music that would resonate with people of all musical tastes. I hope the listeners will take a moment to pause and reflect while soaking in the true meaning of Christmas and even sing along at home!

“Of all the performances I’m privileged to take part in during the festive season, Christmas at the Cathedral is by far my favourite. I’m deeply honoured and blessed to be able to share it with the listeners of BBC Radio Ulster this year. Whether through cherished carols or soulful solos and heartwarming musical arrangements, this programme is designed to evoke memories of Christmas past while creating new ones to treasure for years to come.”
