Successful CIOB Annual Dinner

Over 190 people attended the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) annual dinner event at the Hilton Hotel in Belfast on Friday 19th May 2023.

Master of Ceremonies was John Campbell, BBC Northern Ireland Economics and Business Editor.

Speakers were Roger Gillespie, chair of the CIOB Northern Ireland Hub committee, as well as Caroline Gumble, Chief Executive Officer of the CIOB.

Popular TV personality Paddy Raff provided the post-dinner entertainment.

Sponsors of the event were Hays, Off the Wall Creative, Tughans, Training LMS, Quigg Golden and Keystone Lintels.

The CIOB is the world’s largest and most influential professional body for construction management and leadership.

Victoria College Prep Gala Ball

The Culloden Estate and Spa hosted the Friends of Prep Gala Ball held by Victoria College Preparatory School on Saturday 13 May.

It was a wonderful evening of dining, music and dancing in beautiful surroundings with a sunset view over Belfast Lough.

A champagne reception was followed by an acoustic set by Dearbhlá Madden as guests dined, before the dance floor was set alight to live music by The Untouchables.

A Starry night

Lisneal College recently held their Year 12 formal in the White Horse Hotel, Londonderry.

An array of sequinned and sparkly dresses were on display in perfect fitting with the theme,  ‘A Starry Night’.

Let out of the lab

QUB’s Bio-Science Society held their formal on Saturday 8th March in the Europa Hotel, Belfast.

Members ditched their lab coats for a night and dressed to impress for the red carpet event.

The evening started with a champagne reception followed by a three-course meal.

Rock On

Rockport School held its upper sixth formal in the Holywood Suite at the Culloden Hotel just outside Belfast.

Among those in attendance were sixth form teachers Dawn Toland and Scott McIlveen.

Rockport School is a full day and independent boarding school for boys and girls, situated in Craigavad on the shores of Belfast Lough.

Rockport was founded by Geoffrey Bing in 1906 and is a Charitable Trust.

Ballyclare Secondary Formal

Ballyclare Secondary recently held their formal at Galgorm Resort and Spa. The event was attended by Year 12, 13 and 14 pupils and was a wonderful evening enjoyed by both students and staff. The Great hall at Galgorm was beautifully decorated for the ‘Starry Night’ theme.

The Old Campbellian Society Annual Dinner

The Old Campbellian Society Annual Dinner was held on Friday 10th February in the Dining Hall at Campbell College in east Belfast. Diners were called to dinner by the College Bugle Major, Harry Murphy, and the Society President, Chris McNally, welcomed guests to the event. South African rugby legend Robbie Diack replied on behalf of the guests. Among those in attendance were former BBC presenter Noel Thompson and former Ulster and Ireland rugby player Paddy Wallace, both of whom are former pupils of the College.

BDA(NI) Presidential Inauguration

The British Dental Association (BDA) NI welcomed its new Branch President for 2023, Philip McLorinan, at a ceremony in the Great Hall at Queen’s University Belfast. The evening was attended by family, friends, and colleagues from the dental profession across Northern Ireland and beyond.
