Ards and North Down Borough Council is delighted to launch its Arts and Heritage Summer Programme, running from May to August 2025. Packed with an exciting mix of events, exhibitions, and hands-on creative workshops, the programme offers something for everyone, with activities at Ards Arts Centre and North Down Museum taking centre stage.
Among the highlights is the ever-popularFriday Night Livemusic series at Ards Arts Centre, featuring performances byColm Gavin and Kenan Flannery, Ken Haddock,andMandy and Graham Bingham. Classical music lovers can look forward to a special performance by theUlster Orchestraat Bangor Abbey on 20 June, while folk groupCuawill grace theMusic in the Chamberstage at Bangor Castle on 16 May.
To commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day, North Down Museum will host a compelling programme of events, including an exhibition, an expert talk, and a living historyexperience withValhalla Theatre. The museum will also present a range of family-friendly activities, including children’s yoga and a celebration of bees, alongside a busy schedule of thought-provoking exhibitions, such as‘Inspiration and Transformation’, which pays tribute to influential artists from County Down.

In June, the stunning Walled Garden at Bangor Castle will once again provide the backdrop for the much-anticipatedForM Sculpture Exhibition, showcasing works from talented artists from across the island of Ireland. This year, the exhibition will also feature as part of Bangor’sLate Night Artevent on 26 June.
For those keen to explore their artistic side, theCreative Peninsulafestival in August offers a fantastic opportunity to engage in arts and crafts. With workshops led by local artists, studio visits, and the popularCreative Peninsula in the Squareevent, it’s a must for anyone interested in creativity.
Meanwhile, Ards Arts Centre is offering an array of creative classes catering to all skill levels. From silversmithing and calligraphy to drawing and ceramics, there are plenty of ways to develop new talents. Online enrolment for these classes opens at 12 noon on Thursday 24 April.
