At a reception in the City Hall the Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Alfred Ferguson, presented the Governor’s Trophy for the Best Entry in the 1984 Lord Mayor’s Show to Dunlambert Secondary School. The winning float, which was sponsored by the Belfast City Council Road Safety Committee, had as its theme: “Don’t live in the past! Make life last … Put your faith in Road Safety.” The picture shows the Lord Mayor and headmaster Mr R. Jones with some of the staff and pupils who designed and built the float.
Looking over the details of the Milk Festival of Cricket are: Stephen Warke (Woodvale), George Orr, president, Northern Cricket Union; Brian Smith, Milk Marketing Board; Dixon Rose, president, Irish Cricket Union and Mike Shannon, Hollywood.
